What we collect directly

Nothing. Pool Water Guide has no login, no registration, no comment system and no email capture. We do not ask for your name, your email address, your location or anything about your pool. The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser — the numbers you type are never sent to us or stored anywhere. Close the tab and they are gone.

Analytics

We use a privacy-conscious analytics setup to understand which pages people find useful — page views, referring source, approximate country, and which links get clicked. This is aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not sell or share this data.

Where our analytics provider sets cookies or similar identifiers, that is disclosed by your browser and can be blocked with any standard content blocker or by enabling “Do Not Track”. The site works completely normally with analytics blocked, and we would rather you block it than feel uneasy.

Amazon affiliate links

This is the meaningful one, so we will be specific. When you click a product link on this site you are sent to Amazon with our Associates tag attached. Amazon then sets its own cookie in your browser, lasting 24 hours, which is how they attribute a purchase to us.

That cookie is Amazon’s, not ours. We never see who you are, what you looked at, or what you bought — our reporting shows only anonymous totals of items ordered. But it does mean that clicking a link here results in a third party setting a cookie, and you should know that before you click rather than after. See our affiliate disclosure for the commercial side of the same arrangement. Amazon’s own privacy notice governs what they do with it.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs — IP address, user agent, the page requested and a timestamp — for operational and security purposes. This is normal web-server behaviour and applies to essentially every site you visit. We do not mine these logs and do not combine them with anything else.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on request — which is the honest answer rather than a dodge. If you are in the EU/UK or California and want to exercise rights over data held by our analytics provider, Amazon, or our host, those requests go to them directly, and we will point you to the right place if you ask.

To remove the Amazon affiliate cookie, clear cookies for amazon.com in your browser. To avoid it entirely, search for the product on Amazon yourself instead of clicking through — we would rather you do that than not know the option existed.

Children

This site is aimed at adults maintaining swimming pools and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will change the date at the top of the page. There is no mailing list to notify, by design. Questions go to contact.
